Almost 5 weeks in Buea, Cameroon!!

Good morning and bon jour...what a beautiful language French is...I would love to learn how to speak it...well, I wanted to fit in a few words on my blog today and let you know that I will be traveling to a distant village tomorrow until late Saturday. We will be leaving early tomorrow morning and will travel for about 6 hours on challenging roads...(you could never imagine in your wildest dreams the condition of some of the roads here....pretty WILD!!) We are traveling with a group of Canadians that have been working hard on helping out this village with supplies, water, etc. It will be interesting to talk with these people and find out all about their mission. I hope to make some contacts....you never know how it might help in the future.
Well five weeks here have almost come and gone...in a way, the time has flown by, but in other ways, it seems like I have been away from home for such a very long time. Someone asked me the other day what food I eat at home....I really had to think about what my breakfast, lunch, and dinners have consisted of....it is a strange feeling to be so lonely and at the same time so disconnected from all the familiarities and comforts that I have back in the states. I have learned a lot here....I have some very interesting stories...I hope to also have some incredible pictures that tell of my experiences here....People laugh at me because I have my camera with me at all times and am anxious to take a picture of the most odd things...(odd to the africans, but not to me). Not all of the people are happy about having their pictures taken....
Tonight we are having a big dinner for the canadians...then off to the village early tomorrow...
I wanted to keep in touch and will let you know how this trip turns out...I hope to write on Sunday.
Celeneeeeeeeeeee..........so good to hear from you.I have a big smile on my face right this instant. I hope that you had a wonderful, relaxing time in Florida.....a much deserved break for you....My hair is a bit crazy...not too bad....I do not need to fuss with it at all...and marriage proposals...none yet....one could possibly be brewing.....Ha Ha.......there are a lot of insects everywhere but nothing too bad as of yet. Thank you so much for writing...I hope to hear from you more often...I miss the girls and I want to say "Happy Birthday to Nancy Witt" ...you have now entered a new chapter in your life......the 50's ....you go girl...!!!!
Marzita....you make my day every time I receive a message from you.....thank you for the imagery idea....what a great idea....the challenges here are rather difficult at times...but I know that I can handle it and it will prove to be so worthwhile in the end....once I leave here, I am sure that there will be many things I miss....you never know what you really miss until you are away from it...thank you for being so diligent in responding....it means more to me than you know....
I hope all is well and everyone is having a good fall.....I will write on Sunday....take care and enjoy!! Nancy~

Bon Jour to you too! After a few days with all of those Canadians, you're sure to know even more French! I would love to see your pictures when you return and hear your marvelous stories. I'm already looking forward to hearing of your adventures in the village as well as what emotional impact it makes on you. I will pray extra and send Reiki for you over the next few days. I can hardly believe it's been almost 5 weeks already! (Easy for ME to say, huh?) It is a perfect fall day here....sunny, bright...the air is cool but the sun is warm. The leaves haven't turned as much as I thought they may have by now, but it is coming. I was comparing your comment about the 6 hours of "challenging roads" to our lives.....sometimes the path is more challenging than at other times. May God bless you and keep you from all harm as you travel this road, and may you find many wonders and miracles along the way.
RE: the marriage proposals...I can only imagine there will be more than ONE before you return! You are beautiful inside and out. How could they not fall in love with your spirit?
Take care!...I will anticipate your next entry!
Marzita :)

Nancy it is great to hear that you are having so many new and exciting experiences you are now a woman of the world. I will get the girls in my troop together and we will put school supplies together as well as any clothing that the girls have outgrown. Sounds like it would be very welcome. Hope you have a fun time with the Canadians. Oh by the way fall is not here quite yet it has been very warm the past few days. Be sure to take some pictures of wild animals. Love Ya Cheryl Let me know where we can send our donations.

Hi "Honey"! I miss my "honey"! As I write that, I can hear you saying that to me here at home. I am so sorry that it has taken me so long to figure out this blog thing. I am now up-to-date with your adventures and am so incredibly proud of you! 156 students - holy cow! If you learn all those names, it will be incredible. Knowing your heart and giving spirit, you will become "attached" to many of your students and I know you are touching them in a very special way as well. I just cannot imagine how this is going to change your life and impact what is to come. It is SO exciting! I love you and miss you dearly and pray for your well being - emotionally and physically. You are SO strong, Nanc, and truly an inspiration for all of us back home. I wish you were here to go to Willow with me tonight, but soon enough you will be back and we will go together again. Hugs and kisses to you from your "honey", Vicki! P.S. Have you gotten the couple of e-mails I sent before I figured this blog out? I lost the directions on how to get a phone card so that is my next step! I want to hear your voice!!!! Love you!
